my winter break in Mexico

We are having a lovely relaxing vacation in Mexico while Henning remains at the farm, dealing with winter weather, pigs, chickens, sheep, ducks, geese, woodstoves and furnaces and the countless tasks involved in keeping the livestock fed and watered and warm enough. I don't know anyone else who has animals who is able to indulge in a winter getaway...we are extraordinarily lucky to be able to have our cake and eat it too in this manner.
I miss the sheep and the hens...there's a rooster here in Merida who crows loudly early each morning and for a few seconds I think its summer and I'm at the farm. Also saw a shop in Progreso, the beach town we visited last week, which was selling baby chicks for seven cents a chick...they also had some scrawny roosters in cages. Only see white eggs here in Mexico. If we buy a house here I will keep some hens in the back yard and sell organic eggs to the gringas.
